Since we know that true bikers always choose national roads over highways, even if it takes a bit longer to reach their destination, we’ve put together a list of the three longest national roads in Spain—routes that will give you a unique experience, both for the ride itself and for the incredible views.

1. National Road 340: The longest national road in Spain

With a total length of 1,248 kilometers, the N-340 begins in the province of Cádiz and ends in Barcelona, passing through a total of 13 municipalities: Cádiz, Algeciras, Málaga, Motril, Murcia, Elche, Alicante, San Juan de Alicante, Valencia, Castellón, Tarragona, and Barcelona.

It is also known as the Mediterranean Road because much of it runs along the coast. Just imagine the views! However, it’s important to ride very cautiously, as this road is also famous for its dangerous stretch between kilometer 678 and 698, considered the most dangerous section in all of Spain.

2. National Road 420: Over 800 kilometers along an ancient Roman road

The N-420 has a total length of 889 kilometers and runs from the town of Montoro (Córdoba) to Tarragona, passing through several municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia, and Aragón.

This route is full of history, as it follows the same path as the ancient Roman road that connected Corduba with Tarraco—although today it is, of course, much more modern and in excellent condition. If you travel this route in summer, keep in mind that you may encounter especially high temperatures. Gear up properly!

3. National Road 630: Crossing the country from Asturias to Andalusia

The N-630 is the third longest national road in Spain. It covers 817 kilometers and is known as the Silver Route. This road connects Gijón with Seville, linking the north and south of Spain in a single journey.
